At Brayside we value the importance of Nature play in Early childhood. The Early years learning Frameworks outlines some of the benefits of Natural play spaces and nature play. This term the children have been enjoying going outside the gate to connect with nature and our community.
“Play spaces in natural environments include plants, trees, edible gardens, sand, rocks, mud, water and other elements from nature. These spaces invite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education.”
Many areas of our curriculum can be explored through engaging with the natural world around us and thus embedding a strong connection with nature.
