Today the Bindarrays and Gaagals came together to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. The children made their own diya’s (Lamp) and then designed and created a beautiful rangoli (Indian art form which is used for decoration and is also believed to bring good luck) in the preschool entrance.
Diwali is a festival celebrated across five days by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world.
The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Diwali is one of the biggest religious festivals in India. This year Diwali falls on the 12th November.
It’s celebrated by bursting firecrackers, lighting diyas or lamps, cleaning and decorating their homes, buying new clothes, and by making hand-made rangoli designs in their living rooms and courtyards.
