Nature walks

Our nature walks continue this term so that children experience our community and environment each day beyond our gate. Together we are learning about place, the interconnectedness of living things

Together we explored ideas around Reconciliation and our first nations people for Reconciliation Week. The children were involved in discussions about belonging, storytelling and home culture to enhance their understanding.

Watungaa Dreaming

Rainbow eagle come to join us at our preschool to present his Watungaa Dreaming experience. We reflected about about our earth, Australian animals, about picking up our rubbish and about the different elements in the earth around us.

Small and Mighty Incursion

We had a special visit from Adam’s Wildlife Encounters, who brought in his Small and Mighty Show to teach us about insects and invertebrates.

Harmony day

The kids learnt many different things about each other and overall really enjoyed all the activities that they took part in for harmony day.

Celebrating Holi Festival

Holi is a traditional Hindu Festival which celebrates the beginning of spring, colours and friendship. We gathered outside on the big round mat and the children applied Holi coloured dyes

Christmas Cheer

The children have been busy making and writing Christmas cards and delivering them to the community around our preschool.

Learning About Bees

Today we were lucky to continue our learning about bees and the important role they play in the environment and producing food for us.

Celebrating Diwali

Today the Bindarrays and Gaagals came together to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. The children made their own diya’s (Lamp) and then designed and created a beautiful rangoli (Indian art form which is used for decoration and is also believed to bring good luck) in the preschool entrance.

Gumbaynggirr Language Program

As part of our language program we painted a Bindarray (river) with Aunty Virginia and learnt some Gumbaynggirr words while we were creating.

Little Garden Growers

Lissy joined our preschool to share a magical garden show!

Exploring Fire and Risky Play

As an extension of our nature play, we have been exploring fire as an element in our outdoor environment.

Child Protection Week

Child safety is embedded in our daily program and highlighted throughout Child Protection week.

Connecting With Community

On one of our nature walks, we met a lovely man who had originally built the bridge over a creek we cross when the creek was much narrower.

Sharing Brayside Preschool Experiences

The culture that Janette fosters at Brayside is all about providing a safe, fun, enjoyable environment for children to flourish. The group of women that work at Brayside are not kids straight out of school looking for a job. They are women who have typically had their own kids and choose to work at Brayside due to their love of utilising their teaching qualifications and caring for children in a great preschool.
