Fostering a Love of Literacy
For term two we have been incorporating the children’s love of literacy to achieve a deeper level of learning of different types of literature and concepts of literacy. Through books such as Mr Archimedes Bath by Pamela Allen we have integrated literacy learning with mathematical and scientific concepts such as number, space and water displacement. Learning about rhyme and art through books such as “Lines that wriggle”.
Also we have been storytelling with out books such as the story of “The little red house.” Children use their imagination as the story is told and in the end we cut an apple to reveal a star for the stories end. The children loved this and continue to request their apples be cut at morning tea to reveal the stars.
